Brian A. Janz, MD
Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon
Dr. Brian Janz believes that combining compassion, empathy, experience, and skill are the building blocks for a well-rounded surgical practice. He treats a wide range of hand and upper extremity problems, which include carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, arthritis, nerve injuries, and trauma while utilizing a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr. Janz received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Dayton in Ohio and his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio School of Medicine. Dr. Janz’s residencies included general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts, and plastic, reconstructive, and microsurgery at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas. Dr. Janz also completed a fellowship concentrating in Medical Informatics at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences & Technology’s Laboratory for Computational Physiology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a fellowship at the Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery.
After training, Dr. Brian Janz worked at the Ohio State Medical Center, Department of Plastic Surgery, and was an assistant professor in both the Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery. After working at the Ohio State Medical Center, Dr. Janz spent nine years with the LifeBridge team as a part of the Rubin Institute as one of the hospital system’s primary Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeons. He was also a Medical Informatics Associate, the Chief of Hand Surgery for Northwest Hospital, and a member of multiple medical and informatics committees such as the Northwest Medical Executive Committee, the Clinical Integrative Network (CIN), and the LifeBridge Board or Directors Planning Committee.
Dr. Janz’s goal is to combine a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach for the treatment of upper extremity and hand issues, and he looks forward to helping you with care and compassion.
