Dr. Sydney says that the depth of gratitude he felt from the patients he helped in India was incredible. He explained that one patient compared the help he received to “winning the lottery” because he would be able to walk and work again to feed his family.
More than 500 residents of the Punjabi region in India were screened to determine who were most urgently in need of the joint replacement surgery as well as services such as pre-operative care and post-operative treatment and physical therapy.
“To know you are changing lives, providing help that they wouldn’t get otherwise, is really indescribable,” says Dr. Sydney.
