Dr. Adams emphasizes injury prevention with the athletes and coaches. He notes that Achilles tendon injuries are quite common in soccer and can sideline an athlete for months. Dr. Adams, along with the soccer association, are also focusing on concussion education and prevention in the athletes. “My biggest responsibility as the team physician, which is also the hardest, is assessing whether or not an athlete can continue to play with their injury,” says Dr. Adams.
An avid soccer fan and former player, Dr. Adams says that the opportunity to travel and be a team physician has been “a really wonderful experience.”
