On-site Imaging
Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland is fully equipped with state-of-the-art on-site imaging to help our doctors diagnose and treat bone, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries and conditions.
Digital X-ray
OACM uses the latest high-tech digital X-ray equipment, which has a number of advantages over traditional film X-rays.
Computer-enhanced digital images produce larger, clearer images that can help the doctor make a more accurate diagnosis. In addition, more recent X-rays can be digitally compared to previous X-rays. This enables the doctor to catch the smallest of changes earlier. Digital X-rays also use up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, uses a magnetic field and a sophisticated computer system to create reliable and detailed images of the body. In orthopaedics, we use MRI for high-quality images of soft tissue areas such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles.
MRI can help provide information for a fast and accurate diagnosis and possibly reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other diagnostic procedures.
